Amb-OS UI Sunsetting XP Support 10/31/21

Amb-OS Media announces the “sunsetting” of support for the Windows XP version of the Amb-OS User Interface (UI) effective November 1, 2021.  The XP version of the UI will continue to operate past that date, however we will no longer offer support for or development of the UI for XP.  This decision was made for the following reasons:

  1. XP is vulnerable. Microsoft ended support for XP seven years ago, April 8, 2014.  There are a litany of well-known security flaws which often are the vector of XP attacks.  Continued use of XP leaves your station vulnerable to unpatched security issues.
  2. XP is old. Windows XP debuted in the commercial marketplace 20 years ago, Fall of 2001.  Since XP, there have been five new versions of the Windows OS for consumers.  An upgrade to a new version of the OS is overdue.
  3. The XP version of our UI lacks features. New capabilities (like customization and name changes) our UI offers can’t be added to the XP platform.  Remaining on XP doesn’t allow us to deploy the latest features of our UI.

There are many station partners who continue to have an XP machine running our UI.  If you need help in migrating to a new computer, please give us a call (877-262-6728).  You can export your UI settings and easily import them on your new Windows OS in a matter of a few minutes.Amb-OS Support
