Major browsers ending FTP support
Here's a quick update regarding the use of browsers to fetch files via FTP:We've fielded several support calls this week where users are experiencing problems when attempting to use a browser to access/download files from an FTP server. The callers have reported that just recently they have begun to notice that when using a browser to download FTP files the process is now failing and they were wondering if the FTP site has changed or is having problems. In each reported case when we looked into the situation we WERE able to walk the caller through successful access using FTP client software. We suspect that a recent update of the local browser is the culprit and that increased deprecation of the FTP capability in browsers can be expected.Modern browser developers are working to remove the FTP protocol from their products because of various concerns - we recommend FileZilla or the AMR-100 User Interface (UI) FTP module instead of experiencing complications with a browser. If you experience problems accessing an FTP site with a browser going forward please switch to an alternate transfer mode and that may solve your issue. If you still experience problems after switching to FTP software and need help you can email support@amb-os.com or call us at 1.877.AMBOS2U (1.877.262-6728)
