SES-2 Transponder 7 (old frequency) transmissions to end 9/1/2020

As has been discussed in previous posts, on 7/21/2020 Amb-OS issued commands to locked satellite receivers to make the frequency change from transponder 7 to transponder 23.  Since that time we've been sending our signal to both transponders.  Our satellite uplink provider has now informed us that the feed on transponder 7 (old frequency & symbolrate) will cease on 9/1/2020.  If your AMR-100 has not yet been changed to the new frequency (974.000 mHz.,  see http://www.amb-os.com/pdfs/Transponder_Change_2020.pdf) it will cease to receive the satellite carrier on 1 September.  Although our weekly AMR data logs don't indicate any outliers, as the September deadline approaches the transponder 7 (old) feed will be interrupted on the following schedule in an attempt to identify any AMRs that may still be receiving the old signal:August 24th 11:00-11:30 EasternAugust 25th 11:00-12:00 EasternAugust 26th 11:00-1200 EasternAugust 27th 11:00- 13:00 EasternAugust 28th 9:00 – 17:00 Eastern. Here are instructions to manually enter the new parameters using the front panel controls of the AMR:To enter the new frequency:Press [ENTER] twicePress [DOWN] three times to “Receiver Utilities”Press [ENTER] oncePress [DOWN] once to “Freq:” (old value is 01.317550000 new value is 00.974000000)

  1. Press [ENTER] to select 0
  2. Press [UP] or [DOWN] to change the digit to the desired value (in this case - no change)
  3. Press [ENTER] to move to the next digit
  4. Press [BACK] to return to a previous digit to correct it
  5. Press [ENTER] to go to each successive digit. When you press [ENTER] at the last digit, it will remember your new value and the cursor will return to “Freq:”
  6. Press [BACK] to save the new setting or wait for the system timer to auto-save (about 15 seconds delay)

To enter the new Symbol rate:Press [ENTER] twicePress [DOWN] three times to “Receiver Utilities”Press [ENTER] oncePress [DOWN] twice to “Symrate” (old value is 04710000 new value is 02894000)

  1. Press [ENTER] to select 0 (or the first digit of the symbol rate)
  2. Press [UP] or [DOWN] to change the digit to the desired value (in this case - no change)
  3. Press [ENTER] to move to the next digit
  4. Press [BACK] to return to a previous digit to correct it
  5. Press [ENTER] to go to each successive digit. When you press [ENTER] at the last digit, it will remember your new value and the cursor will return to “Symrate”
  6. Press [BACK] to save the new setting or wait for the system timer to auto-save (about 15 seconds delay)

We highly recommend that you peak your satellite antenna now that the transition has been completed.  This will mean making sure your antenna is delivering maximum signal while adjusting azimuth and elevation, along with “nulling” the cross-polarization of your LNB, eliminating adjacent transponder interference.  The potential x-pol interferors are different on the two transponders, and if not properly “nulled” these could negatively affect your system performance, especially in the coming days as more signals are added to the satellite payload. Here's a suggested antenna peaking/x-pol adjustment process:https://www.amb-os.com/pdfs/Antenna_Peaking_2020.pdfHere's a link for more technical information about SES-2, transponder 23's RF environment:https://www.amb-os.com/installation.htmlAs is always the case, you may call our 24 X 365 helpdesk at 1-877-AMBOS2U (1-877-262-6728) or email support@amb-os.com if we can be of any assistance.
